Director of Corporate Enforcement Paul Appleby has revealed that his office last week sent another file about Anglo Irish Bank to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The latest file concerns the €451m in loans made by the bank to ten of its main customers to buy Seán Quinn's Anglo shares in 2008, propping up its share price.

The 8,000-page report is not quite finished. It is being held up because some interviews have yet to take place.

Last year, the ODCE sent one investigation file and three reports to the DPP on four aspects of the Anglo investigation.

Mr Appleby said every effort was being made to 'substantially complete' all investigations by the end of the year.

He said the particular priority is to finish work on Anglo loans connected to some former directors of the bank, which were not disclosed in the bank's financial statements for many years.
