A man has died following a road crash in Co Sligo this afternoon.

The 30-year-old motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car at around 5.30pm on the N17 between Tubercurry and Charlestown.

He was taken to Sligo General Hospital, but pronounced dead a short time later.

The road has been closed for a forensic examination and diversions are in place. It is likely to remain closed overnight.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the gardaí at Ballymote at 071 9189500.

In Co Derry, a man died in a single-vehicle crash in the Bishop's Road area of Limavady yesterday afternoon.

Three teenagers who were passengers in the car sustained minor injuries.

Pedestrian injured in Dublin crash

A man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Dublin city centre last night.

The incident happened at the junction of Clanbrassil Street and New South street at around 9.45pm.

The man, who is believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, was taken St James's Hospital.
