The Cork Medical Centre is set to recruit an additional 100 staff. It currently employs 50 people, and ultimately plans to employ a total of 525 people.
The country's newest private hospital is to hold a walk-in-recruitment day at its Mahon facility this Saturday in a bid to hire nursing and threatre staff as well as radiology, laboratory and pharmacy staff.
The jobs are being created following the decision by Sheehan Medical, who run the facility, to open its suite of operating threatres on March 14. The €90m private hospital was officially opened last October.
Negotiations with the VHI to provide cover at the hospital are said to be 'going well'. The hospital is already covered by Quinn and Aviva.
