It currently employs 50 people, and ultimately plans to employ a total of 525 people.

The country's newest private hospital is to hold a walk-in-recruitment day at its Mahon facility this Saturday in an attempt to hire nursing and theatre staff, as well as radiology, laboratory and pharmacy staff.

The jobs are being created following the decision by Sheehan Medical, which runs the facility, to open its suite of operating theatres on 14 March.

The €90m private hospital was officially opened last October.

The company says CMC managers will be at the hospital from noon until 3pm pn Saturday to meet prospective employees, who are asked to bring CVs, and to take them on a tour of the 73-bed facility.

Negotiations with the VHI to provide cover at the hospital are said to be going well.

The hospital is already covered by Quinn Insurance and Aviva.
