Senator Shane Ross is to run as an Independent candidate in the upcoming General Election.
Senator Ross made the announcement on The Saturday Night Show last night. He is to put himself forward in the Dublin South constituency.
Senator Ross was first elected to the Seanad in 1981 as an independent candidate for the University of Dublin constituency.
He was an unsuccessful Fine Gael candidate for the Wicklow constituency in the 1992 General Election.
