Five people have been arrested after a taxi driver was assaulted in Dublin city.
The taxi was hailed in Ballybrack, Co Dublin, this morning by two men who asked to be taken to Amiens Street, Dublin city.
On arrival at their destination, the two men assaulted the taxi driver and then drove off in the taxi.
The taxi driver was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Gardaí said that in a follow-up operation the taxi was stopped by gardaí in Finglas, Dublin.
Five males aged between 16 and 21 were arrested and all detained in Finglas Garda Station.
Two 18 year olds and a 21-year-old man are due in Blanchardstown Court on 8 October 2010.
The teens will be dealt with under the Juvenile Liaison Scheme.
