State training agency FÁS has said it is seeking clarifications on a draft report into the provision of contracted training for the organisation.

Fine Gael has claimed hundreds of people who have completed courses provided by contractors to FÁS have yet to receive certificates of completion due to problems with the training.

Contract training accounts for a quarter of all training done by FÁS.

In a statement this afternoon, FÁS Chairman Michael Dempsey said the Board had considered a draft report into the issue and wanted additional information and clarifications on the findings of the report.

He said they would publish the review as soon as possible and take whatever corrective action is necessary.

Mr Dempsey acknowledged that it is taking sometime and this had delayed the issuing of some certificates.

'Outstanding issues are being resolved and certificates will be issued as quickly as possible,' he added.
