Four in court on charges linked to trafficking

Four people have appeared in court to face charges linked to human trafficking, following raids on a number of suspected brothels in Belfast.

Last Friday, a series of raids were carried out in the city as part of a UK-wide operation to combat human trafficking.

Two men and two women, with addresses in Scotland, were later arrested.

46-year-old Malcolm McNeill, of Forest Avenue, Hamilton in Lanarkshire, 33-year-old Stephen Craig with an address at Albert Road, Clydebank, and 21-year-old Ashleigh Beuken, of Argyle Street in Lanarkshire, are accused of trafficking, controlling prostitution, brothel-keeping and converting criminal property.

22-year-old Yvonne Dawson, of Tambowie Cottages, Milngavie in Glasgow, was charged with controlling prostitution.

Three of the accused were remanded in custody until next month, while the fourth is expected to apply for bail later this week.
