Antrim man accused of abusing nieces

An Antrim man is to stand trial accused of a series of sexual assaults on his young nieces more than 30 years ago.

The 48-year-old, who cannot be named in order to protect the alleged victims' identities, faces charges involving four girls.

They include eight counts of indecent assault, two allegations of gross indecency with a child, and two counts of rape.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between 1976 and 1980.

The accused, who appeared at Belfast Magistrates' Court this morning, was released on bail to face trial at a future date.
