A man and a teenager have died in separate road collisions in counties Roscommon and Carlow.
A man in his 50s dies following a road crash in Leecarrow, Co Roscommon, this morning.
The single-vehicle incident occurred on the N61 Athlone to Roscommon road at around 6am.
The man, who was in his 50s, was fatally injured when his car left the road and collided with a wall.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Roscommon General Hospital.
He was alone in the car at the time of the crash.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was driving in the area between 5am and 6am and who may have information to contact Roscommon Garda Station on 090-6638300.
In a separate single-vehicle crash, a 17-year-old youth died when his car collided with a wall on the N9 near Bagnelstown in Co Carlow at around 6.25am. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 17-year-old male passenger was taken to St Luke’s General Hospital Kilkenny. His injuries have been described as minor.
