Further talks to try to minimise the impact of planned health service cuts in the West took place in Galway today.
The meeting between the Health Service Executive and union officials got under way at University Hospital Galway at 11am.
The talks were taking place under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission.
Unions representing HSE staff in the west say cuts of up to €90m are being planned and will lead to significant job losses and deterioration in health services in the region.
The HSE says this will not happen.
Both sides said they were hoping for 'constructive dialogue' today.
IMPACT trade union spokesman Padraig Mulligan said there are very real fears that the HSE will cut jobs and reduce services.
He said this should only be considered as a very last option, and not as a first option.
