The Dáil adjourned late last night for the 12-week summer break, after passing a number of pieces of legislation, including the Dog Breeding Bill.
The Bill returns to the Seanad for final passage next week.
Earlier, the Seanad had passed the civil partnership legislation by a margin of 48 votes to four.
The Dáil will not meet again until Wednesday, 29 September.
Opposition parties objected to the length of the recess, but the Government had a majority of six in the vote on the adjournment.
Meanwhile, the Government has taken no formal decision on a property tax.
The commitment to introduce a tax on residential property remains part of the Programme For Government.
There is growing public resistance to residential property tax.
