Minister for Environment John Gormley has said he believes his Fianna Fáil colleagues opposed to the ban on stag hunting will ultimately support it.
Minister Gormley believes that the reason for their support of the Wildlife (Amendment) Bill 2010 is because they have committed to implement the Programme For Government.
Several Fianna Fáil TDs have expressed reservations about the proposed ban because of the implications it will have on their constituents.
John Gormley has said he is more concerned about what he has called the Labour party's u-turn.
He said Labour was sitting on the fence on so many issues and needed to put 'their money where their mouth is'.
