British tourists killed in South Africa crash

Two British tourists have been killed, and 21 other people injured, in a bus crash on a mountain road in the northeast of South Africa, according to police.

Those who died were two 19-year-old women.

The crash happened on the eve of the continent's first World Cup.

Police said the tourists did not appear to be in South Africa for the the soccer tournament, because they had tickets to leave by air tomorrow.

A British High Commission spokesman said: ‘We are aware of reports of a bus crash in Nelspruit.

‘We are working very closely with the South Africa authorities to try to ascertain more details.’
