Planning consent granted to RTÉFriday 16 April 2010 15.52
RTÉ has received planning consent from Dublin City Council for an application for the redevelopment of the station’s Donnybrook site.
The next stage of the planning process involves all parties having an opportunity to lodge appeals with An Bord Pleanála over the coming four weeks.
RTÉ has welcomed the decision as ‘an important step in plans to ensure Irish licence fee payers continue to receive the best quality TV, radio and online services, over the next 20-30 years’.
The proposal for redevelopment of the site was accepted by local councillors last November.
The redevelopment proposal, 'Project 2025', is the result of detailed analysis and planning carried out since 2002
RTÉ wants to redevelop the site by demolishing most existing facilities and building three interconnected blocks for broadcasting facilities by 2025.
The proposal would also involve building a new entrance onto the N11 Stillorgan dual carriageway.
