Israeli armoured column leaves Gaza

An Israeli armoured column has left central Gaza, ending an incursion mounted after two soldiers were killed in a border clash with Palestinian gunmen.

Gazan medical officials were reported to be heading to the scene, the eastern outskirts of Khan Younis town, to search for Palestinian casualties from last night's fighting.

The Israeli army said it had killed two Palestinian gunmen there.
