A search for a young Scottish man missing off the west Cork coast has been called off for the night.
The man was on a weekend visit to Baltimore and was out walking along the seashore under the cliffs with a friend yesterday morning, when he was overcome by a large wave and washed out to sea.
His friend raised the alarm and a search was carried out involving Baltimore lifeboats, the Coast Guard helicopter and navy vessel LÉ Roisin.
The operation was called off due to deteriorating weather conditions. It is set to resume tomorrow morning weather permitting.
