Gardaí are investigating what caused the two boys and a girl to become unwell at a Co Westmeath secondary school after they apparently smoked something at lunchtime.

It is understood they may have bought the product at a head shop and gardaí say they are investigating that possibility.

The three were taken by ambulance to the Midland Regional Hospital at Mullingar at around 3pm where they were observed.

All were released last night.
