A consultant from Our Lady's Hospital in Navan has been suspended by the HSE after concerns were raised about his work.
An internal investigation into the surgeon's work is now underway.
The consultant was informed of the decision to suspend him on Wednesday morning.
In a brief statement, the HSE confirmed that a member of staff had been placed on administrative leave.
However, a spokesperson said they would not be making any further comment as the matter was the subject of an investigation.
