Mr Justice Michael Moriarty has hit out at critics of the long-running Tribunal saying he would not be distracted by public relations, by spin or other controversies in preparing his report.
Speaking after a number of submissions by various parties in relation to new evidence being given at today's public sitting into the awarding of the State's second mobile phone licence, he said he had been a judge for 23 years and justice was based on evidence not hypothesis.
He said he was 'bemused' by remarks that tried to create an image of the Tribunal 'cobbling' together a report.
Mr Justice Moriarty said his report would be based on evidence but would also address delays in issuing it.
He also referred to a letter he received by Denis O'Brien criticising the Tribunal, saying such things would not occur with a judge in a court.
Two officials are giving evidence today about legal advice the Department of Communications received ahead of the awarding of a mobile phone licence to Mr O'Brien's ESAT Digifone.
