An inquest into the death of a Dublin mother following an elective hysterectomy at a private hospital has heard that she was sweating heavily and vomiting in the days after the procedure.
Linda Royal, 50, of Kingswood Heights in Tallaght died days after the operation to remove her womb at Mount Carmel Hospital in September 2008.
She was rushed to St James's Hospital on 29 September after her condition deteriorated. She died the next day.
The hearing at Dublin Coroner's Court heard how she had complained of being in pain and her pulse was faster than average.
However, gynaecologist Dr Mona Joyce said isolated episodes of vomiting 'did not an ill patient make'.
She said at the time she was unaware of the vomiting and had not consulted the nurse's notes on it.
