A man has died in a road crash near Mullingar.
The 26-year-old was seriously injured when the car he was driving hit a wall at Cloghan early this morning. He was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar, but later died.
The road was closed for a short time for a forensic examination but has since re-opened.
Gardai have asked anyone who travelled on the N52 at Cloghan between 6am and 7am and who may have seen something to contact them at Mullingar Garda Station 044-9384000, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111, or any Garda Station.
