A 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Seamus O'Byrne, who was shot dead in Dublin last year.
Garrett O'Brien, from Clover Hill in Bray in Co Wicklow, was brought before Tallaght District Court this morning and remanded in custody for a week.
Mr O'Byrne, 27, was shot dead in front of his girlfriend outside his home on 13 March 2009 at Tymon Park North in Tallaght.
His girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child, tried to grab the gun and was herself shot in the leg. Their baby was sitting in the car at the time.
Detective Garda Camon Ryan from Tallaght gave evidence of arrest charge and caution.
He told the court that when charged with the murder in the early hours of this morning Garrett O'Brien replied: 'They have made a serious error'.
Detective Inspector Patrick Lordon applied for a remand in custody.
The judge granted free legal aid and remanded Mr o'Brien to appear again at Clover Hill District Court next week.
