Pedestrian killed in Cork crash

A pedestrian in his early 20s has died after being knocked down in Cork.

The crash involved two cars and happened on the South Link Road in Cork at the Bloomfield Interchange.

It is understood the young man is from Co Kerry.

The dual-carriageway was closed for five hours, while garda crash scene investigators worked at the scene.

The two cars have been taken away for examination. The drivers were said to be uninjured but in a state of shock.

A post mortem examination will be carried out on the body of the young man later today.

Elsewhere, a man was struck by a bus on Eden Quay in Dublin's city centre.

The man, who is in his 60s, sustained severe leg injuries. He was taken to the Mater Hospital.
