After almost 7 hours of talks at the Labour Court, the Irish Aviation Authority and the air traffic controllers' union IMPACT have agreed measures to restore normality in industrial relations, avoid further disruption, and to process outstanding industrial relations disputes.
The 14 controllers suspended earlier this week will be restored to the payroll from 6pm today.
There will be a full resumption of normal working with immediate effect with no industrial action of any kind.
Management and IMPACT acknowledge that a bona fide dispute exists between them as to whether work on new technology projects constitutes normal ongoing change (as contended by the IAA) or significant change (as contended by IMPACT).
The dispute concerning the classification of this work will be heard by the Labour Court on Tuesday 26 January.
Its binding adjudication will be issued as soon as possible after that date.
In consideration of these issues, the Union will, at the request of the Labour Court, withdraw its objection to participation the disputed project work, and will undertake that work if requested to do so by management.
The four-hour strike by controllers disrupted flights for up to 20,000 passengers.
