Fires break out in Limerick and Kilkenny city

Two fires have broken out this evening, one in Limerick City where a man was injured and another in Supermacs in Kilkenny City.

A man has been critically injured in a fire in Limerick City.

The fire broke out at about 9pm on the fourth floor of a flat complex on Upper Cecil Street.

The man has been taken to hospital.

Another woman has also been taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Meanwhile, five units of the Fire Brigade are at the scene of a fire at a fast-food restaurant in Kilkenny City.

The fire broke out at Supermacs on the city's main street shortly after 9pm.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Emergency services have evacuated people from the adjoining buildings.
