24-year-old remanded over O'Meara murder

A 24-year-old year man appeared before Bray District Court this morning, charged with the murder of Wicklow man Stephen O'Meara.

A 24-year-old year man has appeared before Bray District Court charged with the murder of Wicklow man Stephen O'Meara.

The body of the 26-year-old was found in a shallow grave during a search of a wooded area at Ballydonnell near Redcross in Wicklow on Christmas Eve.

He had been missing since August.

Michael Dickinson, of no fixed abode, was remanded in custody after a brief hearing this morning to appear in court again on 4 January.

Judge Murrough Connellan recommended that Mr Dickinson be put on protection while in custody.

Detective Sergeant Fergus O'Brien gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
