65 jobs to go in Castlebar

65 jobs are to go at American Power Corporation in Castlebar, Co Mayo, through the closure of a US-owned computer equipment plant.

The jobs are to be axed or transferred to another plant owned by the company in Galway, where production is being moved.

The Castlebar plant employed as many as 1,000 a decade ago but the total has gradually shrunk over the years.
