Aer Lingus management and the pilots' union have accepted an invitation from ICTU and the employers body IBEC to attend an arbitration Tribunal.
This is the latest bid to break the deadlock between both sides over the company's €97m cost-cutting plans, following the break down of talks at the Labour Relations Commission.
Aer Lingus had warned it would proceed with around 1,000 compulsory redundancies and fleet reduction because of the failure to agree the cost-saving proposals.
The tribunal will be chaired by a member of the Labour Relations Commission assisted by one representative from the Congress of Trade Unions and the employers' body IBEC.
