An Italian jury has found the two people accused of murdering British student Meredith Kercher guilty of murder.
Amanda Knox has been jailed for 26 years and Raffaele Sollecito has been jailed for 25 years.
The semi-naked body of the 21-year-old was found in a pool of blood with her throat cut at her rented home in Perugia in November 2007.
22-year-old US student Amanda Knox, and her Italian former boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, deny murder and sexual violence.
Prosecutors say Ms Kercher was stabbed to death after refusing to take part in a sex game.
A third man Rudy Guede, 22, has already been convicted of the murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
But prosecutors say he was only one of three killers who acted together, under 'the fumes of drugs and possibly alcohol'.
The trial has lasted for nearly a year and a verdict is expected in the next day or so.
Ms Knox addressed the court in Perugia yesterday saying she did not want to be branded an assassin.
'I'm afraid of having the mask of a murderer forced on to my skin,' she said.
She showed no anger towards the prosecutors who have requested a life sentence for her, saying: 'They are trying to do their job, even if they can't understand.'
