Two people have died in separate crashes in Carlow and Kerry.

A woman in her late-20s died after the car she was driving was in collision with a 4x4 vehicle on the N80, Kilbride, Ballon in Co Carlow.

The woman was the sole occupant of the car, the driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

The accident happened at around 8am this morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them in Tullow on 059-9181160.

Elsewhere, the 19-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Co Kerry has been named.

He was Mark Flaherty from Glin, Co Limerick.

He was the driver of a car that crashed at 5.40am this morning at Dunard Upper, on the Tarbert to Ballylongford Road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí in Listowel have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them on 068-50820.
