Taoiseach Brian Cowen is to meet Northern Ireland's Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness in Tullamore tomorrow for discussions on the situation in the North.

Mr Cowen is also to meet British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in London on Monday.

Both meetings are likely to focus on the impasse over the devolution of policing and justice powers from Westminster to Stormont.

Sinn Féin and the DUP have been unable to reach agreement on when the Northern executive should take responsibility for policing.

Mr Brown met Mr McGuinness and First Minister Peter Robinson earlier this week.
