watch

Car dealer EP Moooney has gone into provisional liquidation with the loss of 93 jobs.

The company has 11 car franchises and five showrooms in Dublin.

Co-founder and Chief Executive Paraic Mooney said a shortage of working capital forced the board of directors to make the decision.

Mr Mooney says car dealerships across the country are facing similar cash flow problems.

Paul McCann of Grant Thornton accountants has been appointed as liquidator to the company.

The company had reduced overheads by 60% in the last year and cut staff numbers during the same period from 250 to 93.

Twenty staff are being retained over the next few weeks to deal with customer issues.
