EU approves overhaul of telecoms law

The EU has approved an overhaul of telecoms law which has implications for Eircom's push to crack down on illegal downloading.

Today, the European Parliament agreed a telecoms directive which includes a provision for 'internet freedom'.

The provision forbids internet service providers (ISPs) like Eircom from disconnecting illegal filesharers.
