20.59 Clare Crisis Management Centre have issued a warning of further flooding along the lower River Shannon over the coming days owing to increasing levels of water in the Shannon system.

The areas concerned are O'Briensbridge, Clonlara, Westbury and Shannon Banks.

The emergency services are continuing to monitor the situation in
conjunction with the ESB at Ardnacrusha.

20.06 Eircom says that repair work continued through the weekend and service has been restored to moare than 20,000 Customers.

4,000 customers nationwide remain without service. The areas worst affected continue to be parts of West Cork, Galway and Clare.

19.49 IMPACT says that further to their earlier statement, the union has also lifted the strike in the Ballinasloe health sector, which is under big pressure because of the floods.

19.24 Due to recent flooding, Cork County Council has relocated its Headquarters temporarily from County Hall to Model Business Park, Model Farm Road, Cork.

As a result, a limited service only, will be made available during the coming week.

Priority will be given to emergency calls. The co-operation of the public is requested in keeping its business transactions to a minimum.

The main County Hall telephone number of 021-4276891 will continue to apply. Services at all other County Council offices throughout the county will operate as normal.

19.19 Fresh flooding has caused more problems for motorists in Co Galway with the decision to close the bridge across the Shannon at Portumna.

A section of the N65 close to the bridge has become flooded in the past few hours and is now closed to traffic.

Gardaí say diversions are taking place via Eyre Court and Banagher.

They say the bridge is likely to remain closed for the foreseeable future.

17.56 Taoiseach Brian Cowen will visit areas affected by the floods in the south and west of the country tomorrow.

17.49 The following is the latest service information concerning flood issues:

Galway line: Bus transfers are operating again between Galway and Athlone on Galway/Dublin services due to flooding between Ballinasloe and Athlone.

Sligo line: Bus transfers Longford to Carrick-on-Shannon due to flooding

Limerick to Ennis: Line has reopened following flooding, services operating normally

Rosslare line: Wicklow to Arklow line has reopened following landslide earlier this week. Arklow to Gorey remains closed for embankment strengthening.

16.47 Cork County Council are again requesting the public throughout the county to conserve water.

A Boiled Water Notice continues to exist in the following four schemes; Innishannon, Ballineen, Inchigeela and Clondrohid. The Innishannon Scheme covers the areas of Rigsdale, Saranhow, Crossbarry, Upton, Rising Sun, Dunderrow, Summercove and Kinsale.

All other households throughout the rest of the county continue to receive an uninterrupted water supply including Ballincollig, Carrigaline and Glanmire which has been of particular concern to residents.

There are no plans to disrupt the water service in any area outside the four schemes mentioned.

15.15 In Ennis the Gort Road is not passable at the industrial estate.

15.08 Met Eireann expressed concern over high tides forecast for this evening as well as further heavy rainfall on Monday and on Tuesday.

14.51 The Ballinasloe to Athlone rail line is closed due to flooding.

200 homes and businesses remain evacuated in the town where a boil water notice also remains in place.

13.54 Cork County Council has requested the public throughout the county to conserve water.

All other householders thoughout the rest of the county continue to receive an uninterrupted water supply including Ballincollig.

13.30 SIPTU outdoor staff members with Co Cork are to join their colleagues in Cork City and counties Clare and Galway in continuing to work on Tuesday to combat flood and storm damage.

SIPTU hospital support services staff at the Mercy Hospital and St Finbarr's in the city will also be working to help deal with the flood crisis.

13.25 The Defence Forces are conducting emergency relief convoys in Cork City in order to distribute sanitary and drinking water to the most vulnerable in the area from Collins Barracks.

13.05 Areas supplied by Lee Road Waterworks continue to experience supply disruption.

Cork City Council Staff have succeeded in stabilising supply to the Central Island and lower Blackpool areas, enabling businesses and shops to continue trading.

12.53 ESB staff at the Inniscarra Dam in Co Cork say the flood is receding slowly and there are no immediate concerns.

12.44 Eircom says broadband service to the Bandon exchange has been fully restored.

Service was restored to several areas in west Cork including Clonakilty, Ballydehob, Inishannon, Timoleague, Kilbrittain and Rosscarberry.

The areas worst affected continue to be parts of West Cork, Galway and Clare.

12.36 Members of the IMPACT trade union working for Galway County Council and in the Mercy Hospital in Cork have withdrawn notice of their intention to strike on Tuesday in order to continue working on clean-up and recovery operations.

12.07 SIPTU has announced that its local authority members involved in flood relief work in Cork, Clare and Galaway will not be participating in next Tuesday's national day of action.

11.40 The National Emergency Co-ordination Committee is meeting at midday to discuss the flooding.

Representatives of the Defence Forces, the HSE, the Gardaí, Coast Guard and Met Éireann will be in attendance to give an overview of the situation.

10.42 Iarnród Éireann says bus transfers are operating between Galway and Athlone on the Galway/Dublin service due to flooding between Ballinasloe and Athlone.

Bus transfers are also in operation on the Limerick to Ennis service and on the Sligo line between Longford and Carrick-on-Shannon.

09.00 Met Eireann issues weather warning. Southwest to west winds will reach mean speeds of between 50 and 70km/h in many parts of the country today, with frequent gusts between 90 and 120km/h.
