Architects listed on new register

listen

A register of qualified architects is being launched in a bid to prevent poor service and malpractice.

The Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland says 80% of the complaints made to it last year were against unqualified architects.

In future, the only people who can use the title 'architect' are those on the new register.

A framework is also being put in place to enable people who are not fully qualified, but who have substantial experience, to get on the register.
