Labour proposes third tax rate

Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore has said while his party agrees with the Government that there needs to be a €4bn adjustment in the public finances, he does not agree with all of their plans to achieve the savings.

Speaking on RTE Radio, Mr Gilmore said the Labour Party is producing proposals, which include the introduction of a third tax rate on individual incomes of over €100,000.

He also said he did not believe child benefit should be cut.
