Wexford construction firm ceases trading

A well known construction firm from Co Wexford has ceased trading with the loss of around 70 jobs.

Ellen Construction, founded in 1995 by Michael and Martin Doran, employed almost 400 at the height of the boom.

Ellen Construction has been responsible for the construction of many buildings in Dublin, Wexford and other counties.

It has developed Bewleys Hotels in Ballsbridge, Leopardstown and Manchester; the Winter Gardens in Pearse Street in Dublin; Brook Lodge Hotel at Macreddin Village in Co Wicklow and the Rochestown Lodge Hotel, Dún Laoghaire in Co Dublin.

It is understood creditors were informed of the move today.
