Woman killed in Cavan crash

A 19-year-old woman has died in a car crash in Co Cavan.

The accident happened at around 10.30pm last night on the R188 at Corravahan, Drung, Cootehill, Co Cavan.

Gardaí have named the woman as Nicola Roberts, 19-years-old, from Ballinagh, Co Cavan.

Two cars were involved in the collision, both were travelling in the same direction going from Cootehill to Cavan.

One of the cars had one occupant and the other had three.

All four people were taken to Cavan General Hospital where Ms Roberts, a back seat passenger of one of the cars, later died.

Two people remain in hospital.

The investigating Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of the collision (Corravahan, Cootehill) at approximately 22.30hrs to contact them at Bailieboro Garda Station (042-9694570), the Garda Confidential Line (1800 666 111), or any Garda station.
