The Department of Finance has placed advertisements in today's newspapers seeking expressions of interest from suitable qualified people to join the board of the National Asset Management Agency.
The board of NAMA will be made up of seven non-executive members.
They will be joined with the chief executives of National Treasury Management Agency and NAMA.
Today's advertisement seeks people with expertise in areas such as finance, law, accounting, property valuation, banking or insolvency. The closing date for applications is 11 November.
Following last week's lengthy committee stage debate, the area of social housing and community development has been added to the list.
Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan said he is open to suggestions from the Opposition for candidates for the board.
'The early establishment of NAMA is of critical importance,' Mr Lenihan said in a statement drawing attention to the advertisements for the NAMA board placed the newspapers.
'That is why we have sought expressions of interest for appointment to the NAMA Board at this time and in advance of the anticipated enactment of the NAMA Bill,' he added.
The Government hopes to have legislation finished in the Oireachtas by 12 November.
Then it will be up to President Mary McAleese to decide whether to sign it or refer it to the Supreme Court.
