Hopes rise for welfare of kidnapped priest

A spokesman for the Columban Fathers has said they are convinced that Fr Michael Sinnott remains alive after his kidnap 18 days ago.

A spokesman for the Columban Fathers here has said they are convinced that Fr Michael Sinnott remains alive since his kidnap 18 days ago.

Fr Donie Hogan told RTE News that the 79-year-old Wexford man would be of no use to his captors if he was allowed to die.

He said the Missionary Society was confident Fr Sinnott was being held in an area where his kidnappers could contact get the vital medication he needs since undergoing a quadruple heart bypass four years ago.
