Study reveals breast cancer inactionMonday 07 September 2009 09.31
A new study carried out for the Irish Cancer Society shows many women do not act immediately when they find a lump or change in their breasts.
The research shows 58% of women go to the doctor as soon as they notice something that concerns them.
However, 26% of women wait for a month or more, while 4% do not visit a doctor for more than a year after they find a lump.
The research was carried out by Dr Mary McDonnell-Naughton from Athlone Institute of Technology.
