An eight-year-old boy has drowned in a public swimming pool in Co Meath.

The young boy had been in the Aura swimming pool in Navan when he got into difficulties this evening.

The swimming pool is owned by Meath County Council and leased to Aura.

Elsewhere, in Co Antrim a search is under way in a river for a missing 14-year-old boy.

The PSNI says that a man and another teenage boy have already been rescued from the River Bush, near the village of Stranocum.

Emergency services including the Fire Service and a PSNI helicopter have been working in the area since the alarm was raised at 3pm today.
