Dublin, along with Zurich, Sydney, Luxemburg and Miami, are cities with the highest purchasing power.

The report says that despite the collapse of Dublin's housing market, the city is the tenth most expensive in the world, down from eighth place in 2006.

The average Dubliner takes home the fourth highest pay globally, earning €14.30 per hour after taxes and social security, which is 4.6 times higher than the average pay in Warsaw.

According to the report, Dubliners enjoy the fourth highest purchasing power relative to net income.

Workers in Dublin need to work for 15 minutes to pay for a Big Mac, nine minutes for 1kg of bread, and ten hours for an iPod Nano.

UBS-US deal

Separately, UBS is to hand over details of 4,450 accounts to the US authorities in order to settle a legal action sparked by a dispute over suspected tax evasion.

The Swiss government made the announcement this afternoon after signing a deal with the US.

In return, US authorities are to abandon their lawsuit against UBS in the US.

The US was trying to identify 52,000 of the bank's US account holders.
