At least 20 people have died after a bus and a petrol tanker truck collided in southern Russia.

The head of the regional emergencies ministry in southern Russia said the bus travelling from Krasnodar to Volgodonsk crashed into a petrol tanker truck near the city of Rostov.

The emergency ministry said there were 27 passengers on board the bus.

An investigation has been opened into the crash.
