Members of the Association of Electrical Contractors have voted by a large majority to reject Labour Court recommendations for a 4.9% wage increase for electricians to be paid over two phases.

The Association, which represents up to three hundred small and medium contractors, says it would be impossible to recover the pay increases from their customers in the current economic climate.

The other contractors' group has already accepted the recommendations, as has the executive of the electricians' union, the TEEU.
