Boston Scientific, the medical devices manufacturer, is to invest almost €22m in a new research, development and innovation centre at its plant at Model Farm Road in Cork City.

This is the third major investment by Boston Scientific in Ireland in less than a year and brings the company's investment in the field to more than €160m.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan, described the investment as an enormous confidence boost for the company's workforce in Cork.
