A viable explosive device was found in the front garden of a house in Cranog Close, Ballymun, having failed to detonate.
Following a request from Gardaí an Army bomb disposal team arrived on the scene at 10.15am.
The device was made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion. The scene was declared safe at 11.00am.
An examination later determined that the device was viable.
