Strike avoided at Bord na Móna

Workers at Bord na Móna last night voted to accept revised proposals from management on pay and conditions by a margin of 25 ballots.

The threat of strike action, which would have brought peat production at the company to a halt, has been lifted.

A representative for the Unite trade union said the outcome was the best that could be negotiated for the workers in the current climate.
