Two British citizens taken hostage in Iraq in 2007 have been killed and their bodies handed to UK officials in Baghdad.
The men were among five British citizens seized by a Shia militant group from inside an Iraqi finance ministry building in a raid in the Iraqi capital.
They have been identified as Jason Creswell, originally from Glasgow, and Jason Swindlehurst, who was from Skelmersdale in Lancashire.
They worked as security guards for the Canadian security firm GardaWorld to protect Peter Moore, an IT consultant.
Mr Moore and two other guards - named only as Alan, from Scotland, and Alec, from South Wales - were also kidnapped.
British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said yesterday the Iraqi authorities passed the men's remains to the British on Friday.
The families have been informed.
No details about where, when or how they died have been released.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said on Saturday he was 'sadden and dismayed' by the men's deaths.
